Target Words

shaky, nauseous, queasy, seasick, adventure, accident, doomed, thrilling, abandon, alone, stuck, deserted, rescue

Materials

None

Directions

One person tells the story of a shipwreck, using the story outline below but filling in their own details. The other people have to act out the story, doing whatever the person telling it says happened. Be creative when you're telling the story but remember to use the related vocab words. Here's how the basic story goes:

  1. A group of people are on a boat.
  2. Suddenly a storm appears and the boat becomes shaky.
  3. People start to feel nauseous.
  4. The storm gets worse and the boat gets into an accident.
  5. The people have to abandon ship.
  6. They end up stuck on a deserted island.
  7. Many days later they get rescued.

Extension

Talk about what you would do if you were stuck on a deserted island. How would you feel? What would you do for food and a home? What books, stuffed animals, or other things would you want to have with you? Who might rescue you?
