Enrique Says

Enrique, Max, Zak and Wheezie

Max and Emmy's neighbor, Enrique, adds a Dragon Tales twist to the game "Simon Says" and helps his friends (and party guests) learn a few Spanish words, like hola (hello), dos (two), tres (three), cuatro (four), and cinco (five).

How to Play:

  1. Gather children in a room where they can spread out about arms distance apart.
  2. Tell children that you are Enrique, and in this game they must do everything that Enrique says. Give these fun Dragon Tales-y commands or make up your own.
    • pretend to eat a dragonberry muffin
    • flap your dragon wings
    • pretend to munch on enchiladas
    • say hola (OH-la)
    • pretend to swing at a piñata
    • pretend to play the guitar
    • pretend to pick dragonberries in Dragon Land
    • reach for the sky
    • jump up and down cuatro (KWAH-troh) times (if the boy/girl is turning four)
    • jump up and down cinco (SEEN-koh) times (if he/she is turning five)
    • touch your dragon toes
    • pretend to eat dragon corn like Ord
    • shake hands with a friend
    • do tres (TRACE) jumping jacks
    • clap your hands dos (DOHS) times
    • pretend to fly to the School in the Sky
    • pretend to paint a rainbow just like in Rainbow Canyon
  3. Make sure children know to follow the command only when you say "Enrique says" first. Ask children to listen carefully. A cheerful "I didn't say Enrique says!" or "Gotcha!" lets children know when they have acted on a command they shouldn't have and are "out." The last child remaining in the game can be the next Enrique if he or she wishes.
