Camp PBS Parents Summer Bucket List 2014

Summer is here…. The days are long and the kids are at home. Don’t know what to do now that school’s out? Don’t panic! With just a little bit of planning your family can enjoy fun-filled days under the sun doing easy-breezy activities or learning adventures.

Here are some ideas to get you started and a printable list (pdf) that you can customize for your family. Get the kids involved —have a family meeting to fill out the blanks. Camp PBS Parents Summer Bucket List

  1. Catch fireflies.
  2. Make homemade popsicles. Try these strawberry banana frozen yogurt pops.
  3. Read a book in or under a tree.
  4. Create sun prints.
  5. Go on a family bike ride.
  6. Watch fireworks.
  7. Have a picnic. Make grilled BBQ chicken legs or summer tomato salad.
  8. Fly a kiteMake your own kite with help from the Cat in the Hat.
  9. Make giant bubbles.
  10. Perform random acts of kindness for neighbors or strangers.
  11. Skip stones at a creek or pond.
  12. Complete a family summer reading list.
  13. Toss water balloons or sponge bombs.
  14. Go to the county fair or a street festival.
  15. Co-write a story.
  16. Go stargazing.
  17. Float a boat. Design a boat with recycled materials or a penny boat  and see how many coins it can hold before sinking.
  18. Make s’mores.
  19. Build a bug house.
  20. Visit a farmer’s market.
