Oh, there are so many questions that I'd like to ask, but i'm going to keep it simple tonight. You are all very creative and crafty and i'm wondering if you have any great ideas for some fun winter crafts.
Well Christa, I don't know how crafty we are but we sure are required to get crafty in the dead of winter. Or maybe we get a little crazy?
Here is one simple idea of craft fun with some things you probably already have in your pantry somewhere.
Toothpick creations:
All you need are some marshmallows, big or little will do.

and some toothpicks, my kids like the colored kind.

The boys went straight to building structures, while Lucy stuck with making a very long snake.

General joy follows as it always does when marshmallows are involved.

what a great idea, patience! i'm going to have to try that with these stale year old marshmallows i have hidden in my cabinet! LOL
and favorite hot drink, definitely a chai tea latte~ YUM! thanks for making me crave one now...
I've never had a chai tea latte...I'm thinking maybe I need to get one today as I have a long day ahead of me with a three year old, no preschool, and cold weather. And I think I will drinking it while trying out your craft. Thanks for giving us something to do today. I would love to hear any other super sister suggestions for what to do with kids when stuck inside for the winter.
This is a great craft! It also works well with spaghetti/linguine if you don't have toothpicks/can't trust your kids with anything remotely sharp!
I love just a regular latte...anytime, not just in winter!
Well, my FAVORITE hot drink is Irish Coffee, but for a more family friendly answer I'll go with a cafe mocha.
Well normally I'd probably say a soy chai tea latte BUT lately all I've been able to stomach from starbucks is peppermint vanilla steamer...its the perfect going to bed treat!
Great and fun idea you got. You just remind me of my good old days when I was still a kid.
Pellett Stove
Ooh, good prize today! And good idea for the project- it looks like the kids had a blast!
My favorite hot drink is a caramel macchiato (I am sure that's not spelled right). Usually decaf these days, since I'm pregnant, but double-strength espresso in it when I'm not :)
Like Jill, I have some supa stale marshmallows in the cupboard that would be perfect for this.
My favorite winter drink is tension tamer tea, really hot, with REAL sugar (no fake stuff), drunk on the couch snuggling with my honey (kids ASLEEP). Those conditions are all part of my favorite drink experience!! :D
Okay, yesterday it wasn't feeling like such a long winter. It was a crisp day clear sunny day. I wake up this morning to atleast a foot of snow on the ground!! Yay!
My favorite hot drink? It's got to be coffee. Plain coffee. Oh, there is nothing better!
Love this idea - yummy and easy clean up!
My favorite drink is hot red tea (rooibois from South Africa - Lipton makes a great one) mixed with milk and caramel syrup. It's like drinking a great and fancy candy. Can't help but smile when I'm drinking it!
We're old school here--there's nothing better than a mug of hot cocoa (with marshmallows :)) on a cold winter's day. Cute idea--I think my little guy would enjoy this-or at least the marshmallows!
I enjoy a good Chai, but my favorite is a Peppermint Mocha!! Hope you all have a wonderful love weekend!
Fantastic - I love sharing ideas! I look for projects that allow us to use items that are found within our home. And a pot of tea, herbal lemon zinger or orange spice...just to name a few... with honey goes nicely with any project. Tea often leads us to a spontaneous tea party....
I don't think there are any hot drinks that I don't love. But mmmm, mochaccino with extra strong, extra hot coffee.
I have created my new fav tea blend...TAZO Passion and Berry Blossom...absolutely DELISH at work or in bed with a good book!
It's gotta be hot chocolate. There's nothing better for warming up from the inside out.
A mexican hot chocolate always does it for me!
Latte! :)
(obviously I'm not here to win the sweetpeace, I just happen to be in need of a printer and some lovely, lovely products from Philosophy!!
Thanks for picking me yesterday! My daughter and I are BIG fans of PBS! My favorite hot drink would be carmel apple cider. I just get all warm and fuzzy inside thinking about it.
One of my favorite special hot drinks is a cup full of hot milk...with a little vanilla creamer added...and whipped cream on top! It always feels indulgent, and is a good drink to help wind down at the end of a long day!
My favorite is a Venti Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate from Starbucks.
I drink coffee daily for survival, but my favorite has to be hot chocolate-- yum yum yum.
i love hot chocolate :)
ohmygosh. i love philosophy! i also love my coffee, but a peppermint mocha is my fav indulgent hot drink.
What an awesome idea! I actually have this in my house.
Fave hot drink- Espresso Truffle from Starbucks.
I remember doing this kind of craft with my mom when I was little - thanks for bringing back the memory. I am so excited to be able to share these kinds of things with my daughter.
at this time of year I love drinking Chai Lattes.
We'll probably eat more than we play with, but we'll give it a try!
LOVELY idea for getting rid of stale marshmellows!!
My favorite hot drink is peppermint hot chocolate!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE peppermint ANYTHING!!!
Coffee! I am addicted to the stuff.
That is a great craft idea! If any of the marshmallows make it onto the toothpicks instead of in the kids' mouths, that is :)
My favorite hot drink is coffee! I love vanilla coffee with vanilla creamer, I love Mochas at Starbucks, I just love coffee!
I LOVE rich, warm hot chocolate with a big heap of whipped cream on top. YUMMMMMMM!!
There's a Black Vanilla Chai (loose leaf tea) that I get online from a company called Dragonwater Teas. OMG, sooo good. I simmer it in milk on the stove, then strain and drink with honey.
Mine is a tie between my Dad's hot tottie (homemade- we drank virgin versions as kids) and Republic of Tea Chai.
I would have to say my favorite is hot chocolate. I know, not very exciting, but there it is. :)
Coffee. Black. Strong.
Hot tea, all day long ... caffeinated in the morning, green in the afternoon, and Celestial Seasonings' Sleepytime, or herbal mint, at night. Of course I can never say no to the occasional Irish coffee, either...
I would have to say my favorite drink is hot chocolate with a scoop of peppermint ice cream on top. It's DELICIOUS!!
Oh! I love hot drinks of all kinds, but I especially love Earl Grey tea, with milk and sugar, of course!
Hot chocolate with the little marshmallows
We actually do something similar to that at my work. It is a team building program with the co-ops. We use spaghetti though. My favorite cold weather drink is dark chocolate raspberry hot chocolate.
My favorite hot drink is an eggnog latte :)
I love almost all kinds of lattes, am a huge tea drinker, and also loved spiced cider! And thanks for the reminder about toothpick and marshmallow creations...We're totally doing this as soon as I get colorful toothpicks!
My fave hot drink is a giant skim caramel macchiato, with a maple oat scone on the side. It just tastes like my 20s and is one of the few vices held over from those old days that I allow myself to consume once in a while.
Coffee, specifically, Mudhouse coffee from here in Charlottesville, VA. It is wonderful!
my favorite hot drink is plain green tea. it HAS to be plain because i don't like the taste of sweeteners in tea (I don't even like iced tea - crazy, i know). i don't drink coffee (I can't really stand the taste) but i do love chai!
my favorit hot drink is hot chocolate with marshmallows.
Definitely homemade hot chocolate the French way...yummy goodness.
White chocolate mocha, extra hot!
Border's Cafe (of the bookstore) has a triple hot chocolate with a STICK OF CHOCOLATE stuck in it. YUM!! Best. Drink. Evah!
That craft looks like fun for the whole family + a diet killer for mommy! LOL
White tea with Tangerine. It's my special occasion tea...
Oh-- this activity reminds me of a math lesson on solids and nets I did with my ALL BOY 4th grade class (I know, I was definitely "on" something when I agreed to teach all boys). Note to self-- never give 9 year old boys toothpicks (they become weapons) or marshmallows (they get eaten before the activity is complete OR you will find them all over your room for the rest of the year---on top of cabinets...etc)
As for a great beverage...a cup of hot cocoa with peppermint schnapps or coffee with bailey's Irish Cream always takes the chill off for me!!
Mmm... I'd have to say my favorite drink is a non-fat caramel latte. yum.
My favorite hot drink is usually a plain old cafe au lait, but during the holidays, I just love those pumpkin lattes from Starbucks!
Hot tea - preferably herbal.
Sorry, please delete -- the last entry, it didn't have the correct email, and when I tried to sop it, it told me there was an error. I still however like the herbal tea!
My favorite hot drink is Earl Grey Tea with a little bit of cream. If it's a favorite cold drink, Coke wins hands down!
Cute idea. My kids would be stuffing their faces with the marshmallows. I'm not a big fan of hot drinks but do enjoy a cup of hot tea every now and then.
AHHH, I love TAZO Awake tea with some splenda and warm milk.... I NEED it to start my day in the winter.... well, in the spring, summer and fall too!
I did this activity with my students! First we started with basic shapes (square) and then they started to build them up to geometric shapes (cube). It is a great activity for fun and learning!!!
Favorite hot drink is strong black coffee - Equal Exchange French Roast is the best.
However, as a PG woman I am banned from coffee so I guess I'd have to go with ... chicken soup?
holy guacamole, this post got a lot of comments! while i am tempted to make some sort of inuendo about my favorite hot drink, i will resist. my favorite: chai. real indian chai made by real indian old ladies. nothing better.
Hot Beverage:
Either Ethiopian Chai or french-pressed coffee with milk. (Which I had to give up recently - too much caffeine. But I remember it fondly.
My favorite drink is Tea. Iced, hot, whatever, I love it! SInce I live in the south, I get to have it year round and people don;t look at me funny!
Maple milk is an old fav. Growing up my Mom convinced me it helps you sleep and now my 5 yr old is a believer too. We sometimes sneak downstairs in the middle of the night for maple milk and some of the best one-on-one time ever!
White chocolate mint mocha. but the green mint not the peppermint. mmmm. heaven. (mulled wine is really really awesome too)
I had a desire to start my commerce, nevertheless I did not have enough of cash to do it. Thank goodness my fellow said to utilize the mortgage loans. Therefore I took the short term loan and made real my dream.
I do not really see how this is Christmas, but hey it is a craft and it does look fun.
