I know that you always said that “You will thank me some day when you are a mother!”
Well, I am a mother and now I completely understand what you meant.
Thank you for always yelling at the top of your lungs for all of us to come down for dinner. I still cherish those memories of running down the stairs with my sister and brother to have dinner with all of us as a family.
Thank you for “peas and macaroni” nights. As silly as it sounds, Friday nights were my favorite nights because we knew that you would make your famous “peas and macaroni” and home made pizza. Little traditions. Priceless.
When I asked you to babysit my dolls while I went to school, you did. Happily. Thank you.
Thank you for letting me sit as close to Mister Rogers as I could when I watched him on television.
Thank you for making special mom and daughter preschool dates with just me to walk together and get chocolate egg creams.
Thank you for making me think that I named my sister. I did though..right?
Thank you for driving me and my friends to the movies – even when you were 9 months pregnant.
Thank you for having a baby when I was a teenager – it made me realize how much hard work a cute baby really was.
Thank you for insisting that your daughters could hold any job a man could do…and better!
Thank you for being so interested in everything I do that my sister, my brother and I can not wait to come home from something (still!) and recount it all to you, moment by moment.
Thank you for being so angry at me when I came home late as a teenager – it scared me enough to never do it again..or just to never get caught.
Oh, and by the way, thank you for loving me unconditionally…even when I was a teenager.
