Bath Time Sea Animals

Turn bath time into a delightful story time with foam sea animals.

Salty has a big imagination and he loves to tell stories about the animals that live in the sea around the Island of Sodor. Be like Salty and create your own tall tales with these DIY bath time toys.

Time: 10 to 20 minutes

Materials:

  • Craft foam
  • Scissors
  • Permanent Markers

Directions:

1. Use a pencil to draw some simple aquatic figures for your child to cut out, such as coral, fish, even imaginary animals. Also invite your child to draw some figures for you to cut out.

2. Save any intricate cutting for the grown-up. This can be a good opportunity to talk about teamwork; You do the more challenging cutting, while your child does the cutting that they’re best at.

3. Once everything is cut out, use a marker to add eyes or other details as desired.

Take It Further:

Following directions is an important skill, but young children are still learning how to listen. You can help reinforce the practice of listening through storytelling. As you tell a story, have your child act out the scene with the bath toys. When your story is finished, let your child tell a story while you act out the scene.
