Sagwa

Sagwa

Sagwa is an animated adventure series based on the book The Chinese Siamese Cat by Amy Tan. Sagwa's adventures and the beautiful setting of long ago China provide children opportunities for exploring questions about growing up and discovering the richness of different cultures around the world.

For children 4 to 8 years old.

Visit the Web site: http://pbskids.org/sagwa

Series Goals

  • Model strategies for dealing with personal and social issues children face
  • Expose children to elements of cultures other than their own
  • Show that children everywhere share many of the same interests and emotions

Helping Kids Prepare for School

While enjoying Sagwa's adventures, children learn strategies for dealing with their fears, telling the truth in difficult situations, standing up for what they believe in, making friends and dealing with peer pressure and many other challenges they face as they grow up and enter school. Children also discover their similarities to and differences from others, thereby sparking their interests and appreciation of a wider world.
