These activities are intended to help students develop a broader understanding of America through its culture, history, interesting locations, and ecological information. Designed for children between the ages of 6 and 12, many activities can be extended and adapted for older or advanced students. These activities can be used in conjunction with the Wilson and Ditch: Digging America episodes, or done independently to support existing curricula.
Create a travel brochure for visitors planning to enjoy the day in Chicago via the water taxi system. Your child will use pictures of location selections, water taxis, and a partial schedule for each location in the brochure.
This activity will provide your child with an opportunity to learn about the state of New York, while focusing on the state’s five “boroughs” and creating a travel poster.
Your child will learn how to create a graphic organizer "flipbook" to aid in story development and creative writing.
Create your own Wilson and Ditch comic strip.
Have your child create their own Saguaro Cactus.
Follow the adventures of Wilson and Ditch, then make a travel journal of places you want to visit.
