parents should really teach thier children to not sterotype others. Teaching kids at a young age can create a more non-racial environment.

Check out the recent issue of Newsweek with the cover story Is You Child Racist? They discuss a study which found that Caucasian parents think it's best not to discuss race so their children will think everyone is equal, but then that leaves the child's education up to others who might have negative attitudes. The children are not color blind. The article refers to a new book titled Nurtureshock. Very interesting. I'd done the same with my child because it just really does not come up, but will now find a way to discuss the issue of race with him.

stereotyping

Chimamanda Adichie gives a great talk (http://www.ted.com/talks... about the stories we tell and believe about ourselves and others. The more stories we know and the more accurate they are, the less able we are to stereotype others.
