Catching Fireflies

For my 11 year old granddaughter,
I try two things to keep her at-
tentive to having summer fun.

First, I bring a container to cap-
ture some fireflies this time of
the year. Use one you can reopen
and let the fireflies back outside.

Then I recommend building a bird-
house....and colorfully painting
it to give it a more homey look.

Try a shoe box with holes for the
fireflies.

Glue some wood together for the
birdhouse.

We've tried putting birdseed out
back, and checking off which birds
come using a book on birds too.
