HBCU's

What effect, if any, do you believe the current economic status and bailout will have on HBCU's? (ex: enrollment, attrition, full matriculation, etc)

Thanks,
Gena A Harris,
Shaw University graduate

In reply to Raeford B. Wilkins:

Black CPAs

There is currently a shortage of African Americans working in the field of accounting as certified public accountants. This distinction can not only mean greater earning potential but also greater influence on the part of African Americans in financial industries. The program guests talk about benefits, challenges, and opportunities for earning a CPA.

CPA, broadcast 10/4

The discussion about CPA careers and trends was uninspiring. There was no motivating reasons offerred as why one should pursue the CPA certificate. However, your guests did talk about the lack of role models, when they pursued their certificate. But, for black folk, that not unique for any professional field. The answer to the question of IT technologies relevance, a non-responsive answer was given. The worst response was to the question of why there was such poor performance to the first CPA Certificate exam. The answer given was about debt incurred during the four years therefore, the exam was likely to be postponed. Non-responsive. The cost of $2400 was part of the response. Again, not on point. This program based on the guests contribution was uninspriring and not likely to encourage new aspirants.

I would like to know how you all would feel if we had a White issues forum? A white Miss America and an all white college? The civil war has come and gone, you all need to really read the information regarding Abraham Lincoln, and while I have the upmost respect for our former Leader, he had issues himself. This war was not all about slavery, it had to do with the Southerners wanting to have their own country, away from the North who just wanted to cash in on the financial end of our actions. I am part Cherokee Indian who teaches History. You all may want to look up all of the facts that pertains to the Civil War! Besides, you have never heard the Indian, crying out: we have been oppressed1

Maybe Mr. Darryl Hunt can go and speak to him to incourge him to be strong, he will be 29 year old in March 2010 his name is Derrick Lamar Williams he is in Tillery NC. unemployment

In my opinion, I think the forum presented on 8/15 was ridicolous,my reasons follow,(1) I am currently a graduate student at strayer university, and to tell or advise a potential job seeker to re-adjust or look for another career is obscure. What about the time and effort, not to say all the student loans that you are currently in debt for,to just switch because the job market trend has change. We will be like the leafs on a tree , if we try to keep up with the flow of the economy. and if so why then have an area of concentration if it must be change frequently. Your quest today was just lucky or in the right place at the right time. as for many of us that are still unemployed, drastic decisions such as that would make it more difficult, then it is now.
