Fellowships at POV
The PBS documentary series POV is now accepting applications for the Summer 2013 Eastman Fellowship Program. The application deadline is April 15th, 2013.
Produced by American Documentary, POV ("point-of-view") is television's longest-running showcase for independent nonfiction film, premiering 14 to 16 high-impact documentaries every year on PBS.
Hailed by critics as among the most important and relevant programming on television, POV films have won every coveted television and film award, including 32 Emmys, 15 George Foster Peabody Awards, 11 Alfred l. DuPont-Columbia Broadcast Journalism Awards, three Academy Awards and the Prix Italia.
POV is dedicated to empowering bright and driven students from Brooklyn through meaningful engagement with arts and media professionals. With a new, expanded space in DUMBO, Brooklyn, we see tremendous potential to systematically expand our efforts to promote community participation, access and lifelong learning to a diverse community of artists and audiences.
With the Summer 2013 Eastman Fellowship American Documentary seeks to deepen its work in the Brooklyn community by providing young people with training and mentorship through hands-on experience working with POV films and filmmakers. Two fellows will support the following departments: production, development, communications, community engagement, and digital.
- Age 17-21
- Brooklyn resident
- Interested in developing skills in: leadership, community organizing, public speaking, media relations
- Self-motivated and organized
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- A keen attention to detail
- Previous experience with documentary filmmaking or online media a plus
The anticipated start date for the fellowship is June 2013, and will last approximately 8-10 weeks from the start date.
Note: This is a part-time paid position in POV's Brooklyn, New York office.
