U.S. Involvement in Laos (Clip 1 of 5)
The first clip associated with The Betrayal lesson plan explains that neutral Laos became the base for a secret U.S. air war in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. When the war ended, the U.S.-backed regime in Laos fell, and those who had helped the U.S. were punished. Thavisouk Phrasavath talks about his father, who helped the U.S. during the war. Students should watch this and other clips from the film and complete the activities in the film's lesson plan.
