The filmmakers of The Light In Her Eyes will be on the #docchat Twitter chat this Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at 8 PM Eastern (5 PM Pacific), taking your questions about making films in the Middle East and their experiences making The Light In Her Eyes.
Laura Nix and Julia Meltzer traveled to Syria to tell the story of a leader who challenges the women of her community to live according to Islam, without giving up their dreams.
As Meltzer told POV in a recent interview, “To invite American filmmakers into your mosque in Syria is not something that people will readily do.”
Production not only posed challenges for the filmmakers (some of which were solved by posing as harmless tourists) but also for the subjects, who put themselves at risk for allowing cameras into their world.
Ask the filmmakers a question by posting to Twitter with the hashtag #docchat.
