Making a War Documentary: A Twitter Chat with Heather Courtney (Where Soldiers Come From)

Heather Courtney, director of the Emmy-nomimated documentary Where Soldiers Come From, will be on the #docchat Twitter chat Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at 8 PM Eastern (5 PM Pacific), taking your questions about making the “war documentary.”

Where Soldiers Come From isn’t just a war film, and in many ways is better described as a documentary about growing up than a commentary about war, but Courtney navigated trips to Afghanistan and how to go about documenting young soldiers in a war zone.

As Courtney told POV in 2011, “As difficult as that time was for them, they were very open to sharing it with me.”
