Tuesday: Join a Live Chat About ‘After Tiller’ and the Ethics of Third-Trimester Abortions

by |

On Tuesday, September 2, 2014, from 1 PM to 2 PM ET (10-11 AM PT), After Tiller subject Dr. Susan Robinson, filmmakers Martha Shane and Lana Wilson, and journalist Irin Carmon took your questions in a live video chat about the complexities and ethics of third-trimester abortions.

Martha Shane and Lana Wilson’s After Tiller is a deeply humanizing and probing portrait of the only four doctors in the United States still openly performing third-trimester abortions in the wake of the 2009 assassination of Dr. George Tiller in Wichita, Kansas—and in the face of intense protest from abortion opponents. It is also an examination of the desperate reasons women seek late abortions. Rather than offering solutions, After Tiller presents the complexities of these women’s difficult decisions and the compassion and ethical dilemmas of the doctors and staff who fear for their own lives as they treat their patients.

Let us know you’re coming and get your questions in early by RSVPing on the Google+ event page. You can also leave your question as a comment on this post.

If you are joining the chat on your mobile device, you’ll need to download a “Hangouts” app that will sync to YouTube. Download the app for iOS or Android devices.

  • Edie

    deeply humanizing?? Really.

  • Mrs_Snoopington

This is naked propaganda aimed at normalizing killing your own child. PBS is one-sided.

    • Ladyiris

May I suggest that you deliver a dead or dying chd in pain and suffering before you “cast any stones?”

    • Officer Serpico

Or maybe actually watch the film before you comment on it.

      • cheeriosinmypocket

Officer Serpico, I’d like to report the murder of innocent babies.

        • cheeriosinmypocket

Funny…first you posted it. What is sad is how we cannot delete this horrific show from PBS now and forever. Please start researching the reality of your topic…all you did was give approval to our 4 ISIS murders…but you did leave out the gruesome details unlike transparent ISIS.

  • GeonLee

So, is it o.k. for mother to have a choice to seek a delivery room to deliver the baby or to seek an abortionist to kill it? (It is legal to abort an unborn baby until nine month in our country)
The Golden Rule says: Treat others in a way you would be treated. So if any one does not want to die, but supports the destruction of another human being is using a DOUBLE STANDARD!

  • Bob Awerkamp

The most dangerous place for a child in these United States is in it’s mother’s womb. How did our morals get so mixed up?

  • tombucko

The next film might attempt to humanize the notorious Kermit Gosnell.

  • cheeriosinmypocket

Any other way to join the chat other than through google + since it destroys our computers?

  • atrumpfilm .

This was such an incredibly important film and such important work, thank you. Are you having more Doctors wanting to work in this field now after this film?

  • atrumpfilm .

You mention more Doctors want to join your work? How can we support them to be able do this?

  • convictionwoman

Horrible decision PBS broadcasting this show that advocates the murder of children! You all should be ashamed for this!

  • mbm

totally agree – but PBS always has been one-sided. I am pulling my funding from them immediately as I see a pattern in their programming

  • mbm

you are forgetting this involves a second person – the one being murdered is also a person who should be represented by someone who can speak for them.
