The One Journey Festival, in partnership with the D.C. Environmental Film Festival, is hosting a free screening of Dalya’s Other Country. The festival seeks to change the dialogue about refugees and put a national spotlight on their courage, their cultures, and their many contributions to the United States. Following the screening, stay for a panel discussion with speakers including refugees, representatives from resettlement agencies, journalists and business leaders. These leaders will contextualize the crisis, share personal stories about the refugee experience, and answer the audience’s questions about the resettlement process. In addition to learning about the crisis, guests will have the opportunities to connect with NGOs working to support refugees domestically and abroad. For more information on the event, visit Marymount’s website.
Dalya’s Other Country Conversation Starter:

to be in here, enjoying the beach, enjoying the freedom, enjoying the good life.” What factors might have made Hassan feel so uncomfortable about his experience in the United States?
