- 'The Barber of Birmingham: Foot Soldier of the Civil Rights Movement' Wins 2014 Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Award Gail Dolgin and Robin Fryday's Academy Award®-nominated short film The Barber of Birmingham: Foot Soldier of the Civil Rights Movement, which had its national broadcast premiere in 2012 on PBS's POV (Point of View) documentary series, has won a 2014 Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award, it was announced today by Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. This was the last film made by Dolgin, who passed away October 2010.
