In this additional clip from The Boys of Baraka, Baraka School participants Romesh and Montrey spend New Year's Eve, 2004, together, enjoying each other and talking to girls on the phone. As they watch the fireworks, young men begin to shoot off guns in the low-rise housing projects below their balcony, a ritual they perform every year at midnight on New Year's Eve. It is a pointed reminder for the boys of the potential violence the neighborhood may have in store for the year ahead.
