Interview

Julia Hill, who later was nicknamed "Butterfly," lived for over two years in an old growth redwood trying to protect it from being cut down. In this 2000 interview, filmmaker Doug Wolens describes what first brought him to making a film about Julia Hill, and how his initial ideas for the film changed. Wolens says he made the film not so much to promote one environmental issue, but rather to show what we can achieve as people.
