Manuela Hears Lomax's Recording (Clip 3 of 4)

In this additional scene from Lomax the Songhunter, filmmaker Rogier Kappers meets Manuela Lema Santos and plays back for her a recording she made for Lomax. When Lomax arrived in Galicia, Spain, he had written "The town clerk told us that the three best singers in the region had just moved in. He led me to a house that was like a heap of stone and called Manuela. There in the filthy barn, stood a young woman, her clothes ragged, a child on her arm. Manuela fetched her two sisters....Maricucha let go for a line or two, and then she raised her head and out of her throat came a high falsetto crying tone that put white heat into the song."
