The following lesson plans have been developed as a companion to the 5 GIRLS broadcast and comprise a unit that uses television as a learning tool in high school and middle school Health classes. 5 GIRLS may be taped off-air and used for up to one year following broadcast, or you may choose to purchase it.
These classroom activities include: learning objectives; an outline of the relevant national standards met by the plans; a list of necessary tools and materials; a notation regarding the total time needed to complete the individual lessons; a teaching strategy; assessment recommendations; and extension ideas.

What are the factors that contribute to the development of a healthy social, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being of an individual? Students will discover the answer to this question by participating in a creative exercise involving film analysis, imagination, and writing.
Lesson 2: Issues and Answers for Teens

This health lessons will involve the creation of a resource pamphlet that will identify the issues that teens are struggling with in their school and provide some strategies to cope with these problems. Students will employ their research, analysis, and interviewing skills in order to complete the lesson.
Lesson 3: What is Resiliency?

What is resiliency and what does it look like? Students will study the skills that help young people survive adversity and be productive.
