Howard and Barbara
HOWARD ARMSTRONG
Howard "Louie Bluie" Armstrong is the last surviving musician of the black string band genre that flourished before World War II. Howard's recollections are rich with the history of the 20th century, and this is vividly reflected in his paintings, music and written stories. >
BARBARA WARD
Barbara Ward is known for the multicultural soft-sculpture figures she has been creating since 1975. Today she is the percussionist in Howard Armstrong's band and is collaborating with him on an illustrated book about her childhood. >
