History
Great Performances: Holo Mai Pele
Featuring Halau o Kekuhi, Hawai'i's premiere hula troupe, this one-hour performance program features a dazzling display of ancient hula and chant. Two separate companion websites document 1) the theatrical staging of the epic myth cycle of volcano goddess Pele and her favored sister Hi'iaka; and 2) the national broadcast of the one-hour film on PBS' Great Performances (click on "Hula Gestures" at left for a multimedia presentation).
