AIDS IN AFRICA Opens in a new window

Although sub-Saharan Africa accounts for only 10% of the world's population, it accounts for approximately 70% (an estimated 29 million people) of global HIV/AIDS cases. The 21 countries in the world with the highest prevalence of H.I.V. cases are in Africa, with the highest rates of H.I.V. incidence occurring in Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe.
