Dan Stein has been the executive director of the Washington-based Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) since 1988. He has worked for nearly 15 years in the field of immigration law and law reform, and has appeared in Congress on behalf of FAIR. He responded to questions from P.O.V.'s Borders and website visitors in December 2001.

Hispanics became the fastest growing minority in America in the 1990s as they increased their numbers 58 percent during the 1990s - from 22.4 million to 35.3 million during the decade. At the same time, the Latino suburban population grew 71 percent in the 1990s. Fifty-four percent of all U.S. Latinos live in the suburbs. Find out more about this population explosion.
