David E. Simpson and J.J. Hanley (2002)
In the film Refrigerator Mothers, David E. Simpson and J.J. Hanley tell the story of a generation of women from the 1950s through the 1970s, whose childrens' autism was blamed on poor mothering. J.J. Hanley talks of her personal struggle of receiving news that her son was autistic and sympathizes with the women who received much less support that came before her.
