The Real Truth of a Veteran

by JJ Domont | Permalink
November 19, 2009

I am a veteran of the Vietnam era. It does not matter which branch of military I served. They are all the same. Personally, I am ashamed of my veteran status. Every military personnel I see (self included) reminds me of how many death they represent. How many people did each of us assist in killing, and ruined families? In addition to the ecological disaster that we contributed? When I served in Vietnam I did not "fight for my country", instead I fought for an egocentric Commander-in-Chief with a vendetta including making $millions for a few corporations. How can anyone be honored to serve such a thing is beyond humanity? When I came home from serving I found it offensive to be welcomed and thanked for what I did.

The present real truth of a veteran is not the pretty picture we are assumed to behold. Veterans day should be our day to have the "Commander-in-Chief" under the heading of President, Dictator, Queen, King, etc. (all the same thing) and put them on trail for their lack to make peace.
