I stood up to screaming patriots, and burned my draft card. I protested and marched, screamed and cried, told my generation to stop, don't go, this was wrong. I ended up a C.O. [conscientious objector] doing 2 years of bedpans, not smoking dope in Canada. I think that I, and those like me, are the true patriots, the true dissenters, who tried to stop 50,000 of our generation from coming home in bags.
Honor the resister, honor the protesters , the real patriots, those with the guts to stand up to a country gone mad with blood lust and a government hooked on body counts, and for what? Where is our memorial, where is our G.I.Bill FOR BEING RIGHT? Nam affected me too, and changed my life, without being there. Think about it. Who was right? None of you HAD to go, you could have fought to stay home.
