Get Involved: Plan an Event

Through our Engagement Campaigns we work with public television stations and national and community-based organizations to facilitate local dialogue and activity around the issues presented in our films. In the process, thousands see our films in community settings and we trigger ongoing local partnerships and build new audiences. Our Youth Views initiative moves P.O.V. off the TV screen and into the hands of our newest audience: teenagers. YV trains youth organizers and activists in media literacy and facilitations skills.

We are currently accepting applications for 2007 events around our recent films. View a list of the films in the P.O.V. Community Engagement Library (PDF) and choose the films you would like to plan events around.

We have just launched our brand new Community Events Planner. Teachers, community organizers and PBS station outreach managers should all use this new online planner to apply to hold P.O.V. screenings and events. If you are having trouble with it, please contact Eliza Licht at elicht@pov.org or 212-989-8121.

PBS Station Outreach Managers

You may apply for up to $1,000 in funding support to help with the costs associated with hosting an event. If approved, grants are awarded upon completion of an event evaluation form.

Keep in mind, to receive funding, you must:

  • Partner with at least one local agency per program.

  • Reflect a commitment to community engagement, dialogue, and, whenever possible, problem-solving around the issues the P.O.V. program raises.

  • Include a P.O.V. logo or the following credit line on all event materials: This event is a collaboration with P.O.V., the acclaimed independent nonfiction film series on PBS.

Note: If you are applying for grants for multiple films or are producing follow-up programming and require additional funding, please be sure to indicate that in your application.
