Yoni Brook is a film director and cinematographer who regularly directs and shoots documentaries for PBS broadcast: Bronx Princess (POV 2009) and "A Son's Sacrifice" (Independent Lens 2008), both directed and produced with Musa Syeed; and "The Calling" (Independent Lens 2010). His directorial debut, "A Son's Sacrifice," was named Best Documentary Short by the International Documentary Association and the Tribeca Film Festival.
Brook recently spent two months working under a military curfew in Kashmir while shooting "Valley of Saints," a feature fiction film directed by Syeed.
Brook is a graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and was selected to attend the CPB/PBS Producers Academy at WGBH, and the Berlinale Talent Campus Doc Station workshop. He served as an adjunct professor at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism and as an instructor at the Barefoot Workshops in the Mississippi Delta. He mentors high school students at Reel Works Teen Filmmaking in Brooklyn and served as a consulting producer for Cinereach's Reach Film Fellowship.
