(CC, Stereo) My Music: Doo Wop Love SongsDecember, 2007, Check local listings -Hosts Jerry Butler and Cousin Brucie Morrow bring back the backseat ballads in this all-new PBS celebration of great vocal groups. Recorded in May 2007 at the Ritz Theatre in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the program features performances by the Tokens, Dubs, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Larry Chance and the Earls and a once-in-a-lifetime reunion of the Original Drifters. (CC, Stereo) Ayo Live in Monte CarloDecember, 2007, Check local listings -Singer Ayo, whose first CD, "Joyful," went double platinum in France and platinum or gold in such diverse markets as Italy, Poland, Switzerland, Korea and Australia, was taped in performance at the world-famous Salle des Etoiles in Monte Carlo in August 2007. During the concert, she performs songs from Joyful with her four-man band. (CC, Stereo) Great PerformancesDecember, 2007, Check local listings -Superstar Andrea Bocelli returns to his native Italy for a concert of his greatest hits, along with the debut of new songs. Taped at a specially constructed theater on the slopes of the ancient hill town of Lajatico in Tuscany, Bocelli is joined by special guests Chris Botti, Heather Headley, Kenny G., David Foster, Lang Lang, Eliza, Laura Pausini and Sarah Brightman for an evening of romantic favorites. The program contains a selection of rare photographs, interviews and footage from movies that made him famous, including "The Great Caruso." Torn between the desire to establish himself as a serious opera singer and the temptations of Hollywood, Lanza was plagued by self-doubt and resorted to alcohol and over-eating. This program celebrates his incomparable talents, as well as illuminates the torments that led to his untimely death at age 38. (CC, Stereo) |

The Brain Fitness Program is based on neuro-plasticity, the ability of the brain to change and adapt -- even rewire itself. Dr. Michael Merzenich of the University of California San Francisco and his colleagues around the world bring the research findings, along with a scientifically based set of brain exercises, to PBS viewers in this innovative and life-altering program. Peter Coyote narrates. Good Night with the Sleep Doctor Michael Breus, Ph.D.December, 2007, Check local listings -Noted sleep expert Dr. Michael Breus explains to viewers how their genes, environment, job habits and physiology may be hampering sleep and thus dramatically affecting their waking life. The doctor suggests that getting proper sleep (both quality and quantity) will rejuvenate the mind and body, improve sex life, increase energy reserves and help viewers lose weight and keep it off -- perhaps even take years off their appearance. |
