PURPOSE OF TOOLKITS

Toolkits provide audio and video elements necessary to package your program.

In order to provide producers with program elements necessary to package a PBS program, PBS offers a variety of toolkits to producers. These toolkits contain audio and video segments for underwriting, system cues, post-logo filler, and HD and Widescreen identifiers.

TYPES OF TOOLKITS

PBS offers SD, HD, Widescreen, Kids and filler toolkits.

PBS offers toolkits for every version of programming that it offers. There are four types of PBS toolkits, each containing generic elements, as well as elements unique to the program versions, whether it is in Standard Definition (letterbox or 4x3), WideScreen, or High Definition. Such elements include the PBS system cue, which must be included at the end of every PBS program, an HD or WS identifier, which must be the first element of all HD or WS programs, and PBS Viewers Like You funding spots, which can be used on programs that received PBS funding.
