PBS Most Trusted Institution
• Public trust in PBS is extremely strong.  In fact, PBS
receives the highest rating of seven public institutions
asked about in the survey.  One half of the public say
they trust PBS as an institution “a great deal.”
• The second most trusted are courts of law, with just over
one-quarter (28%) saying these are trusted “a great
deal”.
• People place commercial television networks (17%),
newspapers (11%) and cable television networks (10%)
much lower in terms of according them a great deal of
trust.
• This high level of public trust in PBS is constant across
all demographics – among Americans of all ages,
educational backgrounds, income levels, and ethnicity.
