Importance of Societal Issues
In an effort to gauge how well PBS is perceived to be
fulfilling its basic mission, the survey focused on various
issues relevant to an informed American society.
A majority of Americans rate all of the issues asked
about in the survey as being “very” important.  From
improving literacy (88%) and being informed about health
issues (86%) on the high end to being informed of
America’s ethnic and cultural diversity (51%) at the low
end, all seven issues asked about were seen as very
important by a majority of the public.
