asked how well
PBS programs addresses these issues.

A strong majority
of Americans rate PBS positively on all of the

issues asked
about in the survey. At the top of
the list is the job PBS

|
does providing
people access to arts and culture (83%, with 55%
|
|
|
saying “very
well”) and promoting an understanding of American
|
|
|
history (83%,
with 50% saying “very well”). On all seven items asked
|
|
|
about in the
survey, from improving literacy to informing people about
|
|
important
political and social issues, PBS programs received positive
|
|
|
marks from more
than seven in ten Americans.
