Most Believe Federal Government
Should Provide PBS More Support
A majority of the public judges that the amount of
government support that PBS receives is too little. When
told that PBS receives 15% of its funding from the federal
government, translating to about one dollar per person
per year of government support, 51% of Americans said
the government was giving too little money.
Just 8% feel this amount of support is too much.  Another
35% say it is about the right amount.
Those most likely to feel that PBS receives too little
money from the federal government include people with
a college degree (56%), those aged 55-64 (59%), and
blacks (67%).
