NATIONAL SCIENCE STANDARDS (Grades 5-8)

 Science as Inquiry- Content Standard A
 Students think critically and logically to make the relationships between  evidence  and  explanations by deciding what evidence should be used and  forming logical  arguments.
 Earth and Space Science- Content Standard D
 Students will examine variations among soils and their relationship to  preservation of  fossils.
 Students will examine fossils as evidence of change over time.
 Students will learn that soil layers can be used to determine relative age.
