NATIONAL SCIENCE STANDARDS (Grades 5-8)

 Science as Inquiry- Content Standard A
 Students will use microscopes to assist them in data collection.
 Students will observe a model and use observations to develop an understanding of  the relationship between ecological balance and invading species.
 Students will develop the ability to listen critically to alternative scientific arguments  presented by their peers.
 Students will develop an understanding of identifying and controlling variables.
 Life Science - Content Standard C
 Students will observe organism growth and reproduction from cell division.
 Students will analyze the affect of nutrients and energy on organism growth and  reproduction.
 Students learn that producers convert energy from the sun into chemical energy.
 Students will explore the affect of biotic and abiotic factors on population diversity.
 Students will investigate biological and chemical means to maintain diversity.
