Tom's results

Tell us a little about your everyday life:
After college I worked for 25 years as a software developer. Now I am a professional archery coach teaching archery to people all over the Southeastern Massachusetts area.
What is your current weight?
My current weight is 194 pounds at 18% body fat. For me the percentage of body fat is much more important than the weight.
What did you like and dislike about your particular method of weight loss

What I like about my weight loss program is that I now emphasis good nutrition using the foods available to the average US consumer. The foods I eat must be readily available in supermarkets, and the nutrition plan varies with the foods available. For me, eating is a great pleasure, the tastes, textures, scents, and appearance of the food must be appealing. Since I am free to cook the foods in many different ways, I can vary the foods preparation methods and keep the meals appealing.

What I dislike about the nutrition plan is the way my tastes have changed; I no longer enjoy fast food and as a result I am restricted by what is available in restaurants. Oh, I still enjoy chips and they are the bane of my waist line, but most other fast foods are no longer palatable. In fact, when we do go out to restaurants, I find the portions sizes provide me with at least two meals. I kind of miss the “pig-out” eating, but I can not do it any more; since my appetite has shrunk.

What's the most surprising thing you learned from this experience?
That learning to eat properly and exercise has lead to habits I don’t want to change.
