Chris Clark is a professor with the Bioacoustics/Marine Mammal Research Program at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. He an his colleagues designed the underwater sound recorders seen on this episode of Scientific American Frontiers. Called "pop ups" because they will float up from the sea floor on command, these recorders have captured, for the first time, the sounds of fin whales in the Lugurian Sea. As a marine mammal expert, Chris's research takes him around the world. He is currently preparing for field work in the Arctic Ocean.
