Lisa HarrisLisa Harris, M.D.
Primary Care Physician, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics
Diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome

Dr. Harris is in private practice and has been diagnosed with metabolic syndrome.  She made changes in diet and exercise to treat the condition and currently has the syndrome and diabetes, under control.

Lisa Harris, M.D. was born in Oneida, New York, the eldest child and only daughter of the honorable Judge Roy and Mrs. Lucille King. Dr. Harris attended Monroe Jr. Sr. High School and then furthered her education at the University of Rochester, where she received a B.S. in neurosciences.  Later, she attended Morehouse School of Medicine where she received her medical degree. Her training was completed at the Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, MI. Dr. Harris is boarded in two specialties, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, allowing her to care for both the adult and pediatric populations. Currently, Dr. Harris is in private practice.

Christine RogersChristine Rogers
Health Reporter

Christine is an award winning producer and reporter. She is the recipient of two Edward R. Murrow awards for her investigative journalism work. She was nominated for an Emmy for her documentary on sex offenders and was recently recognized by the Mental Health Association of North Carolina for a series of reports on mental illness. Christine has extensive health reporting experience. She produces and hosts Healthwise on UNC-TV, North Carolina's public broadcasting network. Each month she tackles a different health care topic from diabetes prevention and control to the problem of childhood obesity. Christine also produces health features for Ivanhoe Broadcast News which serves over two hundred stations across the country. She received her undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and her master's from Duke University.


Harley HowardPastor Harley Howard, PhD 
Foundation of Truth Bible Church
Stanton, California

Dr. Harley Howard is the pastor of the Foundation of Truth Bible Church. He is also the producer and host of the television and radio program, "What Saith the Scripture?"  Dr. Howard has published three Bible commentaries (Acts, Hebrews, and First Timothy). He is also a founding board member of the Newport Institute for Ethics, Law, and Public Policy in Newport Beach, California; a non-profit organization dedicated to scholarship and education regarding vital issues of public life. Dr. Howard has suffered from the debilitating effects of obstructive sleep apnea for over 20 years.  After receiving treatment in 2001, he has become dedicated in spreading the word about the dangers of sleep apnea.  He is a staunch advocate for the need of testing and treatment for sleep apnea.

 

Michael YurcheshenMichael E. Yurcheshen M.D.
Assistant Professor of Neurology
University of Rochester Medical Center and Strong Sleep Disorders Center

Dr. Yurcheshen graduated with a B.A. in history from Yale University in 1995 before earning his M.D. from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.  He then completed residency training at the University of Rochester in the Department of Neurology and fellowship training in Sleep Medicine at the University of Michigan.  He joined the faculty of the University of Rochester as an assistant professor in 2005, and staffs the Strong Memorial Hospital Sleep Disorders Center.  In addition to clinical work, Dr. Yurcheshen maintains active research interests in sleep medicine.  His research focuses on parasomnias and on menopausal insomnia.  A member of the AOA honor medical society, he has received several teaching awards for his contributions to undergraduate and graduate medical education.  He is a contributor to a number of local and national media outlets and is a reviewer for the journal Neurology.

 

arandDonna Arand, PhD
Kettering Sleep Disorders Center
Dayton, Ohio

Donna L. Arand, Ph.D., D.ABSM, is the Clinical Director of the Kettering Sleep Disorders Center in Dayton, OH and Research Assistant Professor at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine.  She is board certified in sleep medicine and a fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.  Dr. Arand received her PhD in experimental psychology from the University of Cincinnati.  She subsequently served as the Director of the Sleep Disorders Center at UCLA.  Dr. Arand also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).  She is a site visitor for the AASM and she has served as chair of the AASM accreditation committee and been a member of various task forces for the Standards of Practice Committee.  Dr. Arand is the president of the American Insomnia Association and editor of the "Sleepless Times" newsletter.  She is on the editorial board of the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine and a reviewer for other sleep journals.  She is an active sleep researcher and her primary research interests include: insomnia, arousal, and daytime performance.  She is an author of more than 100 scientific research articles on sleep and she has written a number of book chapters.
 

 

Mark HymanMark Hyman, MD

Dr. Hyman is editor in chief of "Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine", the most prestigious journal in the field of Integrative Medicine, and the Medical Editor of Alternative Medicine, the Art and Science of Healthy Living.  He is the co- author of the New York Times bestselling book published by Scribner, Ultraprevention, the Six Week Plan that Will Make You Healthy for Life, and The Detox Box, A Program for Greater Health and Vitality, recently published by Sounds True, 2004, and The Five Forces of Wellness: The Ultraprevention System for Living an Active, Age-Defying, Disease-Free Life (Nightingale-Conant 2005), NutriGenomics, The New Science of Health (2006).  His latest book is, the New York Times Bestseller, UltraMetabolism, The Simple Plan for Automatic Weight Loss (Scribner March 2006). He has written for and is quoted regularly in leading consumer magazines including Parade, Elle, Fitness, Glamour, Family Circle, US, Women's World, Health, Natural Health, Self, Shape, and Town & Country.
