A Moor abroad

The Moroccan Ambassador, Abdul Guahid, stays in London for around six months and may have met William while the poet was at court.

The Moor's presence in London drew much interest at the time, and the ambassador was immortalized in a well known portrait. Could the impressive figure of Abdul Guahid have been inspiration for the character Othello?
