Coat of arms application

exterior of The College of Arms
Exterior of The College of Arms
The draft of the document that would have been given to Shakespeare's father is still kept in the records of the College of Arms in London. The College of Arms is the authority that approved and recorded all Coats of Arms, preventing mere peasants from inventing their own Arms or, worse still, two Lords turning up at court with identical symbols on their coaches.
