Ovid

Publius Ovidius Naso, born March 20th, 43 B.C., died 17 A.D.

Ovid, as he was known to the English-speaking world, was a Roman poet. He wrote on the topics of love, abandoned women, and mythological transformations.

He was the subject of Ben Jonson's play "Poetaster."
