Petty schoolPetty school was the name given to elementary, or primary, school in Shakespeare's England. Pupils would have started petty school at five years of age and learned how read with aid of texts like the Lord's Prayer and the Ten Commandments. Children would also have learned the essential skill of writing with quill and ink. |
