Lord Hunsdon
Henry Carey, later the Lord Chamberlain, was rumored to be an illegitimate son of Henry VIII. When he became Lord Chamberlain, the group of actors he had been giving occasional aid to became The Chamberlain's Men, under the leadership of James and Richard Burbage and featuring William Shakespeare. Lord Hunsdon sired ten sons and, as if he really needed to prove his virility, took the young, attractive Emilia Lanier, possibly Shakespeare's Dark Lady, as his mistress. George Carey, Henry's son, took over the role of Lord Chamberlain after the death of his father's successor. He died shortly after his company became The King's Men following the accession of James I.
