Volunteer
Smoky Hills
Public Television receives financial support from state and federal sources
and from various fundraising efforts. But the station couldn't continue
to operate without the help of hundreds of volunteers each year.

Mailings
Every month a group of volunteers assists with mailing of the Viewer Guide,
the publication that is sent to members of Smoky Hills Public Television.
In addition, volunteers help complete various bulk mailings for the station,
including membership renewal notices and additional gift requests.
Camera Operation
Smoky Hills Public Television needs volunteers to operate the studio cameras
during local productions and special on-air events such as pledge drives
and the Annual Art Auction. No previous camera operating experience is
necessary; volunteers will be trained at the station prior to the production.
On-Air
Pledge Talent
Volunteers can help the station with fundraising efforts by appearing
on-air during pledge drives. No previous experience is necessary -- just
ability to speak in front of the camera and willingness to ask viewers
to support Smoky Hills. Our staff Pledge Producer conducts workshops periodically
for those wishing to be considered for an on-air volunteer assignment.

Phone Banks
During pledge drives and the Annual Art Auction, volunteers are needed
to answer telephones at the station. Members of organizations, service
groups, or businesses are encouraged to volunteer for these shifts, and
we encourage individuals to assist with answering the phones, too!
Food Contribution
Restaurants and individuals are also needed to contribute meals for the
volunteers who work at the station during pledge drives and the Annual
Art Auction. The amount of food needed varies depending on the number
of volunteers needed for the event. Contributors are thanked on-air during
pledge breaks and in credits during the Art Auction.
