What does it mean to be an American in this day and age? AMERICAN PORTRAIT, a new multimedia project from PBS, features user-generated videos created and contributed by people of all ages and walks of life to answer this question and more.

Along with local PBS stations driving grassroots engagement, the digital, broadcast and interactive project reveals that no matter our differences, we share common problems, joys, hardships and triumphs. When woven together across media platforms, these stories and traits craft the AMERICAN PORTRAIT.
