In SOMEWHERE SOUTH WITH CHEF VIVIAN HOWARD, host and award-winning chef Vivian Howard explores the lesser known roots of southern food, cooking and living. Howard also examines cross-cultural dishes, such as dumplings and beans and rice, enjoyed by diverse communities across six one-hour episodes.

Vivian Howard

Before hosting SOMEWHERE SOUTH WITH CHEF VIVIAN HOWARD, Vivian Howard hosted A Chef’s Life, a Peabody Award-winning PBS series about southern ingredients and cuisine. The James Beard Foundation Award for Best Television Personality recipient was born to tobacco and hog farming parents in Deep Run, North Carolina, where she learned early on to appreciate the ebb and flow of eating with the seasons. After working several years in New York’s restaurant scene, Howard returned home to North Carolina and opened a restaurant of her own: Chef & Farmer.

Since launching the farm to fork restaurant with her husband in 2006, Howard has served seasonal and creative dishes to patrons while developing strong relationships with local farmers. As host of SOMEWHERE SOUTH WITH CHEF VIVIAN HOWARD, Howard continues sharing her knowledge and appreciation for southern food and culture to viewers nationwide.
